Chocolate is toxic to dogs and should never be given. It contains theobromine and caffeine which dogs cannot metabolize effectively.

Chocolate contains theobromine which is toxic to dogs. Even small amounts can cause serious health problems including seizures, heart problems, and death.

Risks & Precautions
Chocolate toxicity can cause vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, seizures, and can be fatal. Dark chocolate and baking chocolate are most dangerous.
